BioTecNika's premium member Ms. Sansrity Sinha has cracked the CSIR NET Life sciences exam this June 2012. The CSIR NET being the most coveted dream for most of the Life Sciences graduates. Sansrity managed to get the most of her preparation and took her step towards her ambition. Today we present the interview with her about her success.
BioTecNika: Good Morning Sansrity. Congrats on your success in the CSIR NET June exam and getting a rank of 32.
Sansrity: Thank you sir, and also thanks for Biotecnika's support for helping me to crack the exam at my first attempt itself.
BioTecNika: What exactly was running in your mind after checking your results?
Sansrity: Since it was my first attempt to this examination I didn't expect to clear this. I was delighted after seeing myself qualified in such a big examination that too with such a great rank. I aimed to be a doctor with my area of specialization being Neurology. As I grew up i realized when it comes to research in Life sciences, Genetic and molecular biology would aid in better understanding of the subject. So I joined UG course in B.Tech Biotechnology and chose M.Tech Genetic engineering as my specialization. since this exam is utmost important for people opting for research when i checked the result I was very much happy n excited that I have moved one more step further to reach my ambition (research in neurology) and this was the first thing that came to my mind.
BioTecNika: So, now that you have cleared CSIR, What's your next plan?
Sansrity: I want to explore field of neurology and read about genetics behind neurodegenerative disorders so I would join IISc bangalore or NIMHANS bangalore to seek my goal. But since I have many attempts left so I would write the exam again focusing to achieve SPM fellowship.
BioTecNika: How did you equip yourself for the exam?
Sansrity: Clear basic concepts and in depth studies are required to crack any kind of examination. I kept my concepts clear but I revised a lot. And studying for knowledge point of view should be the target of every student only then he/she deserves the career in research. This attitude plays an important role. I'm also blessed with teachers who kept guiding me continuously and teaching me the tricks to grasp things faster and retain them. So all this helped me a lot.
BioTecNika: There are plenty of students who are diverting their careers from life sciences thinking that there are no career opportunities in this field, what's your say on this?
Sansrity: Yes, In the field of life sciences inspite of extreme effort provides very less salary which is really sad. People here are paid very less of what they actually work. This field mainly belongs to people interested in research. Job opportunities in companies are less and salary provided by core companies really brings down the moral. People (freshers) who clear exams like CSIR, GATE and DBT JRF get moderate fellowship than the salaries of core companies. Its better to look out for vacancies in research institutes than core companies. It takes years and long patience and hell lot of disappointments to achieve success in getting into Life Science companies.
BioTecNika: How do you think our aspirants have to prepare for Life sciences Stream?
Sansrity: Don't sleep in the class!! Class notes play an important role. Most questions asked in CSIR are Application oriented and test the concepts taught in class. So we need to understand concepts before applying them. So study your UG and PG course properly.
BioTecNika: What is your feedback on Biotecnika’s Quality?
Sansrity: Quality of questions asked in AIMNET was really good.
BioTecNika: Was BioTecNika Test/ Study material competent enough to help you solve all the paper?
Sansrity: Yes it was. I really thank Biotecnika for organizing such a series n making all the students read things thoroughly.
BioTecNika: Any Tips/Tricks you’d like to give your friends preparing for CSIR?
Sansrity: Keep knowledge updated for everything related to the field, that helps a lot. And Be strong on the basic concepts of the subjects as this will help not only in exams but also in interviews.
BioTecNika: How did you find the Questions in our BioTecNika NET JRF Learner and AIMNET Test Series?
Sansrity: It's an Awesome test series!! I always found difficult to crack AIMNET series. After every test I knew i had to study more in order to score better. The difficulty level is awesome and pretty high on standards. AIMNET series served a lot of help to me. Thanks Biotecnika.
